iTunes TUTORIAL!!!

To Listen to your file that you just downloaded:

1. Open iTunes.
2. Choose add file to library.
3. Your file should appear in the library. If you cannot find it, use the search function in the top right hand corner.

To Burn a CD:

1. Open iTunes, the icon with 2 green eigth notes.
2. First go to the search box at the top right and search for your
selection to see if it has already been downloaded on your computer.
If not, download your song from the server.
3. In iTunes, click file, and scroll to "add file to library."
4. Your computer should copy it to the iTunes library and you should see the song on the icon labeled "Library" at the top left hand corner.
5. Select the song from library that you want on your CD and any other songs by shift-clicking.
6. Click File from the iTunes menu at the top of the screen and select
Create New Playlist from Selection.
7. This will create a playlist at the left hand side under the
library icon. Click on it, and you should see your selected songs. You
can continue dragging songs from the library or other playlists into
this playlist.
8. Go to the properties window by pressing Apple + "," or Ctrl + "," [that's a comma in the quotes]. Click the advanced icon and then the "Burning" tab. Make sure the disc format says "Audio CD."
9. At the top right hand side there should be an icon that says Burn
Disc. Insert a blank CD-R and then hit Burn Disc.
10. Voila!!!

- To maximize your CD-R's, you can choose to burn the files onto your discs as data files, not actual audio. You will not be able to play these CDs in a regular CD player. They are like hard drives that you cannot add more files to once you are finished burning the CD.

Make a playlist like above. Your maximum limit of songs depends on the size of your CD-R. Most standard CD-Rs are 700 megbytes. You should see how much space a playlist takes up at the bottom of the iTunes window. Go to the properties window by pressing Apple + "," or Ctrl + "," [that's a comma in the quotes]. Click the advanced icon and then the "Burning" tab. Make sure the disc format says "Audio CD." Then click Burn Disc. If you went over your CD-Rs limit, it will tell you that you will need to insert more than one disc. This is fine, especially if you want to put many songs onto CD-Rs all at once. It will prompt you when to insert the extra CDs.

- If you want to change the file format from Apple Lossless to mp3 go to Preferences. Then go to the Importing under the Advanced tab. Choose the format and bit rate. The higher the bit rate, the better the recording quality. I suggest using AAC @ 160 kps (only iTunes can read this) or MP3 @ 160 kps. Now, go back to the track you want to change (or shift-click to select more than one). Right-click it (MAC users do Ctrl-click) and you should see a menu item that says "Change to X format." Click that and iTunes will convert the file. The original file will remain the there unaltered. Enjoy!
